Vultures Invade Bull Shoals Dam

The Corps of Engineers is battling flocks of vultures at Bull Shoals Dam.

The Corps says as many as 15-hundred vultures have caused damage over the past month, their droppings corroding the surfaces, painting the rails white and causing streaks down the dam.

The Corps is considering the use of metal spikes to prevent the birds from perching on the rail.

A Corps spokesman says the vultures apparently like the high perch, the warm air and the plentiful fish, but will likely move further south with colder temperatures.
