The American Red Cross setup shelter at New Beginnings Fellowship Church at 151 Elm Street in Hollister to provide shelter for families who were displaced from this (Thursday) morning’s flash flood.

Residents living in the Hidden Valley Subdivision and Old Mill Road were forced to leave their homes by flash flooding in Turkey Creek.

American Red Cross spokesperson Nigel Holderby says the shelter will provide families a safe and dry place to stay and be provided with food and water:

Holderby says the Red Cross always looks at a shelter situation as a non-ending service.  She says they want to be there until there is no longer a need.  The Red Cross is prepared with a staff to stay overnight and continue the shelter operation until people are able to get back to a more permanent situation.
