The Taney County sheriff says there are plenty of ways to celebrate the New Year, that don’t pose a danger to the public.
Deputies were called to Merriam Woods just after midnight on New Year’s Day. According to the sheriff, a resident fired a gun into the air to ring in the New Year. The bullet wound up penetrating the roof, insulation and ceiling of a nearby mobile home, and becoming embedded in the kitchen floor.
No one inside the home was hurt, but the sheriff says had anyone been standing in that spot, they might have been seriously injured or killed.
