Nearly nine years after the murder of Rebecca Sutton of Hollister, the investigation remains active. The 19-year-old single mother disappeared in March of 2003 from the apartment she shared with her 2-and-a-half year old son. Russell says the passage of time does not necessarily lessen the chance of solving the case. He points out that ‘cold cases’ are frequently solved 20 or 30 years after the fact, and says all it takes is the right piece of evidence to fit into place. Rebecca Sutton’s murder occurred in March of 2003. Her remains were found in February of 2004.
