Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision which shut down Highway 248 near the Stone-Taney County line for more than an hour.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 20-year-old Sarah Mifflin of Forsyth was westbound on 248 around 6:15 Tuesday evening when she crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a car driven by 38-year-old Lance Taylor of Walnut Shade.

Southern Stone County Fire officials say Taylor’s vehicle was on fire, while Mifflin’s was on its side.

According to the Highway Patrol, Taylor and his passenger, 41-year-old Sandy Taylor, also of Walnut Shade, were taken to a Springfield hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
