Eureka Springs to Use Outside Firm to Help Find New School Superintendent

The Eureka Springs School Board has decided to use an outside search firm to help find the school’s next Superintendent.  The Carroll County News is reporting the board was somewhat split on the idea, with one member asking why a professional company was needed to help, since the school already has 16 candidates for the job.  With another saying that in light of recent budget cuts, it’s a slap in the face to spend 8 to 10-thousand dollars to hire a superintendent.

Supporters of the idea say it’s important to shift the burden of screening applicants to a professional firm, and the company is only providing viable candidates, and that it would be the board that does the hiring.  In the end, the board voted 4 to 3 in favor of using the outside firm. A timetable for the process wasn’t announced.
