Convoy of Hope has announced it will donate 1-million dollars to help victims of last spring’s deadly tornado in Joplin. Hal Donaldson, President of Convoy of Hope said the donation is part of the organization’s commitment to help Joplin rebuild, and Convoy of Hope will stand by the families affected.
Donaldson’s announcement coincided with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s final episode that aired over the weekend, as the television show revealed 7 homes it built last fall, in 7 days.
The money from Convoy of Hope will help establish the Extreme Hope Fund, with a primary focus to fund the gap homeowners are facing as a result of the tragedy. A gap with insurance, proceeds from FEMA, and actual reconstruction costs families are strapped with.
To date, thanks to contributions from across southwestMissouri, more than 12-thousand families have been served through Convoy of Hope’s disaster relief efforts in theJoplin area.
