Branson City Hall says it wants to gather input on the future of the Factory Merchants Mall from citizens who have ideas on what to do with the property now that the city owns it.

One idea has been to turn the land near Highway 76 and Gretna Road in to some type of recreational complex.  While no decision has been made, Alderman Bob Simmons updated members of the Branson Park Board this week

Simmons said he recently walked the property with Parks Director Cindy Shook, and was surprised at how much space is available.

The city took over ownership of the mall earlier this month from Simon Property Group, after the Indianapolis based company paid 300-thousand dollars to break a long term lease.  Simon also signed a six-month management contract to help current tenants find new locations.

Don’t expect a decision from Branson City Hall anytime soon on what to do with the Factory Merchants Mall near Highway 76 and Gretna Road.   City officials say they plan to gather as much input as possible before deciding what to do with the multi-acre tract of land.

Alderman Bob Simmons updated the Branson Park Board on the project this week, since one idea has been to turn the once popular mall in to some type of recreation facility.

Parks Director Cindy Shook says she recently walked the mall property with Simmons, but specific options weren’t discussed.  But she wanted to keep park board members updated on the possibilities.
