Funding Sought for Meth Fight

Law enforcement agencies across southwest Missouri are looking for sources of funding to continue the fight against meth production.  Among them is Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay, who says progress was made last year, only to have those positions no longer funded by MoSMART grants…

Brad DeLay 2012A138

DeLay says he and other sheriffs will continue to look for funding opportunities, but he doesn’t expect that to happen at the previous levels.  The sheriff says a spike in the meth numbers is an indication that reported seizures and arrests were higher, but now with the loss of funding, a decrease in those numbers is possible.

=====(2nd version)=====

The end of 2011 brought the loss of funding for MoSMART, the Missouri Sheriff Methamphetamine Relief Task Force.  Law enforcement agencies across southwest Missouri are now looking for other sources of funding to continue the fight against meth production.  Among them is Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay…

Brad DeLay 2012A139

DeLay says meth numbers have risen over the past few years because agencies have been on the offensive, seizing more labs and making more arrests.  He says now that funding for those officers is lost, those numbers could decrease.

Who is the idiot that thinks it's smart to stop funding to crack(get it, ha!!) down on the making and sale of meth! That doesn't even make any sense. What kind of crazy state do I live in?

The Sheriff is looking for funding to fight crime. I thought that is what e payed taxes for. Oh I forgot, the taxes are going to pay welfare, and alot of your welfare folks are on meth.

Did I not read that Missouri is now one of a few states that will require drug testing to receive government handouts? Wonder what effect that will have on the drug issues around here?
