The Branson West Police Department is one of the first agencies to offer parents the opportunity to test their teens at home for drug use.  Police Chief Doug Rader says under the new program, all it takes is a voucher…

Rader says the voucher program is open to parents in Branson West, Reeds Spring and the surrounding area in Stone County.  He says the testing program means parents can find out whether their teenagers are using drugs, then follow up with open communication and help for the teen.  The program also provides teenagers with an excuse when they’re offered drugs, by being able to tell their peers they’re tested at home.  Parents can pick up a voucher for a free home drug test kit at the Branson West Police Department behind City Hall onSilver Lady Lane.

The program is funded through a grant from the Missouri Police Chief’s Association.  Rader says it also provides an excuse for teens when they’re offered drugs, as they’re able to say they’re tested at home by their parents.  A voucher for a home drug test can be picked up at the Branson West Police Department behind city hall at110 Silver Lady Lane.

who's footing the bill for this program, let me guess...the same folks that paid for hwy 13 expansion, the now failed Indian Ridge development, the 60% water hike, etc. if this county is so flush with taxpayer funds to pay for drug testing, then start testing Medicade receipents...parents start taking some responsibility

As printed, the funding is coming from a grant from the Missouri Police Chief's Association (no tax monies), nothing to do with Indian Ridge or 13. You start rambling on about county money & taxpayer funds, etc., that the intent of the program is lost. I experienced the "excuse" with our kids and It provides an opportunity for kids to do the right thing, a lot of the time they just need a reason to tell thier pier-pressure buddies NO. I hope the program works out. Can't hurt to try it.
