Governor Nixon Says No to Metal Detectors

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says he doesn’t want the state capitol to take on the look of a war zone.

Nixon says he doesn’t want the capitol building to have metal detectors, just as Capitol Police and the Highway Patrol are investigating an incident this week where someone put gun target stickers on the office doors of several lawmakers, including former Branson resident and current Jackson County State Senator Jolie Justus.

Nixon told reporters that we wants people to feel welcome when they visit the Capitol.

Supporters of the metal detectors say they won’t want to wait until after an incident before asking why they weren’t in place.

The machines were installed in the Capitol after the 9-11 terrorist attacks, but were removed in 2003.

Kudo's to Gov. Nixon on this decision. The world is a dangerous place and we can't go around worrying about it all the time. If we do the "others" ultimately win and we lose our freedom.

I would rather go through several metal detectors than to be confronted by a crazy person with a gun!!!
