How could this not be a conflict of interest that the City's Mayor is on the Board of Directors???? Goverment politics at its best.

Take off your rose colored glasses Mrs. Presley, you people have let this hospital get in debt to the point it is killing it. It may be for sale, but did you ever try to sell a business that is losing money hand over fist. Don't say it has been run well, if it had, it wouldn't be in this situation now.

Maybe if they could improve their billing dept things would be better.Over the years when my husband need emerengy care we used Skaggs-medical care was very good but then the bills started coming--they never anawered the phone-they tell you to leave a message and they will get back to you in 24 hours

It's true dealing with the billing department is very frustrating since most of the billing is outsourced. I think there may be several ways to save some money but when there are several uninsured in the area whom have no way of paying for treatment, or you have to have a prescription for what some still consider over the counter drugs what do you expect. If you have a fever, a runny nose, or a headache seek urgent care or a pharmacy. If you have a broken bones or serious medical conditions seek the ER. I also find it upsetting to find out my private insurance that I pay so dearly for gets charged more for a procedure than medicaid may have to pay, medical billing costs needs to be made equal across the board.
I agree - 02/01/2012 9:20:48 AM
I agree with Taney County Resident. They are horrible with the billing department. Simply horrible. When you call them, they never answer. It is like pulling teeth to pay your bill. If you have insurance, it is even worse. You want to know what you owe and they are slow in processing insurance. Communication with doctors offices is also bad. Last year, my husband had surgery and we arrived a bit early after driving on ice only to be told there would be no surgery. No phone calls or anything to us or the doctor. The nurse in surgery was very rude and told us to leave but we waited for the doctor who was still planning on doing the surgery. To make a long story short, the hospital had not contacted the doctor nor us and the surgery was still on. It was literally a day from hades. We were supposed to be out of the hospital no later than noon that day and ended up being the last person scheduled for surgery and the last person out that NIGHT. Although we have insurance, the billing was a nightmare. WE are still getting bills even though they wrote us a check for remimbursement.

I had to take my husband to that "hospital " on one occasion and will never return. He has military records of his problems and when the situation came up that he needed immediate attention, he was transfered there by ambulance only to have them ( and without even a single nurse or doctor physically touch him ) say all it ws was a pulled muscle. We asked for him to be treated and their idea was to give him drugs. I ended up taking him to a "real " hospital for treatment. Its no wonder that hopsital has problems. Care and of course the billing was horrible to deal with as we too have insurance and that was screwed up also. I will never use that place again.
Biling & Service - 02/01/2012 1:57:54 PM
Our family know of 3 people in one week in 2010 that were treated & released at the ER - all misdiagnosed with different symptons and all died within a week of being released.

I have heard horror stories about this hospital for years, BUT, My 3 children along with myself were born there, no problems, My Mother went from being a candy striper to working in the medical field for many many years here.I find that every business no matter what has problems and hospitals always seem to get bad press.I mean after all people die there occasionally. We have a great hospital and we need tpo try to keep it.

The billing might be bad but they have the BEST laboratory people on staff.
Say it isn't so ! - 02/01/2012 7:55:44 PM
Again another fine example of recuriting. Wm. Mahoney said the hospital is not for sale when he landed in Branson. Now in his made for TV press conference he states the hosital is for sale. Seems that a few years back the name Skaggs Community Hospital wasn't good enough , so the board and past CEO spent thousands on the name change to Skaggs Regional. Whose life was saved by this move? As for recuriting Doctors, this is the worst of the worst yet. The number of doctors that have come and gone from this community could be compared to the number of visitors that come and go to Branson each summer. Wm. Mahoney again states recuriting doctors as a key. News flash: The key to a successful hospital is retaining good staff, doctors, nurses and support staff, but most of all it's customer service. Oh yes one more thing to the hospital board, who will break the news to the Awberys that their tower is up for sale. What a shame!

I truely hope someone can take this hospital and turn it around. this is the worst hospital i have ever been to in my life. the worst health care ever. But i did wise up and start to go to sprinfield for all of my medical needs. Since this is a tourist town, this should be a number one hospital. I would not advise anyone to use this hospital

egotistical mayor
justaperson - 02/06/2012 6:23:14 AM
most of my family was born there.Skaggs was a very great hospital and i think they or we need to ask ALL of the board to leave and put people that makes min wages in there..
bluecollar - 02/06/2012 1:52:26 PM
I agree that the staff of the hospital need to be the Board of Directors. Just ask the employees they know what's going on and have great ideas how to correct problem areas. Are they listened too hmmmm. It's easier to pay an out sourced company for an assesment then never used. What a waste!
BEEN THERE SEEN THAT - 02/07/2012 3:03:20 PM
Lots of little communities had hospitals and most all have gone the way that Skaggs is going. Big debt and begging a big giant to take them over. If the big guys think they can turn it around and make a buck they will, but if not it will be gone. I am afraid they may have waited to long if the debt is as big as reproted.
