Mercy, Cox Would Consider Skaggs RFP

A Request for Proposals, or RFP, goes out next week as Skaggs Regional Medical Center looks to merge with what it calls a key strategic partner.  In announcing the move, hospital CEO William Mahoney provided no details on where those proposals will go, but acknowledged that the Cox and Mercy health care systems, both with hospitals in Springfield, would be logical choices.  Mercy spokeswoman Lisa Cox says they’re aware of Skaggs’ intent, and interested in taking a look at the possibilities…

Please - Try to resist getting caught up in a big hospital. They will just chew you up and spit out unemployeed people.

It is sad that the people who live and work here are not insured for their health care. Who's to blame? Really no one is. Does that mean Skaggs can say to the staff "I can not pay you this week because in order to provide free care to the uninsured and still pay the water and light bill we are out of money". There is no free lunch and no free care so folks, budget your money and buy insurance. LIKE I do!!! My insurance would be cheaper if medical providers didn't have to raise their fees to offset the losses from those who steal their services. Skaggs may be community based BUT they have to pay for staff, supplies and yes the water bill too.
