Full Scale Airport Drill March 3

A full-scale disaster drill will be held next month at the Branson Airport, with hundreds of area responders testing out their plan for managing an emergency.  Even though it wasn’t required then, multiple agencies took part in a similar drill just before the airport opened back in 2009.  Airport Public Safety Director Louis Chapman says this time, responders will be dealing with an emergency at a fully functional airport…

The Federal Aviation Administration requires a full scale drill every three years, in addition to annual exercises called “tabletop” drills.  Chapman says an exercise last week focused on the response to a large aircraft emergency at the airport.  The full-scale drill is scheduled for March 3rd.

Area high school and college students will act as “victims” to make the emergency drill more realistic.  It’s scheduled for March 3, a Saturday morning, and will conclude before any flights are due in or out of the airport.
