Dispose of Items Containing Mercury

Items containing mercury are being accepted for disposal acrossMissouri.  Jean Mueller with the Taney County Health Department says it’s a good time to check your house for those items and dispose of them properly…

Items for disposal should be sealed in two zip-top plastic bags, and placed in a crush-proof container, such as a coffee can, or a plastic tub or bottle.  Items containing mercury can be dropped off at the Taney County Health Department offices in Branson and Forsyth, or the Stone County Health Department in Galena and Branson West.  They’re accepted during business hours through the end of May.

Check your house for items like old thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, or thermostats.  Those items should be sealed in two zip-top plastic bags, then placed in a crush-proof sealed container, such as a coffee can, or a plastic tub or bottle, then dropped off at the Taney County Health Department in Branson or Forsyth, or the Stone County Health Department in Galena or Branson West.  Items will be accepted during business hours through the end of May.
