Arkansas Looks for State Budget Cuts

Arkansas state lawmakers convene next week for another session on the proposed state budget.  House Minority Leader John Burris of Harrison is calling for more cuts in the plan, and says he’s open to suggestions from colleagues…

Burris says other areas of state government can be reduced, but they don’t add up to a lot of money.  He says the largest increases will be seen in the areas of Medicaid, prisons and education.  The governor proposes a 4-billion dollar state budget for Arkansas, to take effect July first.
