The City of Forsyth is joining the newly formed Taney County Business Development Partnership.

The town’s board of aldermen approved the measure last night by a vote of 3 to zero, with Alderman Michael Chipman absent from the meeting, and not casting a vote.

Due to city budget concerns, the partnership is allowing Forsyth to join at a reduced rate of 5-hundred dollars the first year, with normal funding of 1-thousand dollars each of the following two years.

Mayor Ron Potter asked Partnership Director Jonas Arjes if this was a long term commitment.

Arjes answered the Mayor by saying yes, he would expect Forsyth to stay in.  Arjes promised the Board of Aldermen that he would appear on a quarterly basis, if not sooner, for Partnership status updates.

Other partners include the Branson Chamber of Commerce, the City of Branson,Taney County, Hollister, Rockaway Beach, Merriam Woods and Kirbyville.  Taneyville and Bull Creek Village are also being invited to participate.

One of the goals of the partnership is to create and sustain non-tourism related jobs in Taney County.

Partnership Director Jonas Arjes made his pitch to the board, and citing budget concerns, allowed Forsyth to join at 500-dollars the first year, with normal funding of 1-thousand dollars for each of the following two years.

Forsyth belongs to a similar organization based inSpringfield, and Mayor Ron Potter asked Arjes about the difference:

congratulations to more county wide leaders that are banding together to do something to help our area collectively instead of trying to do it on their own.
